Jamar Marshall was only a step away from winning all three of his races at last year’s Golden West Invitational, being edged at the line by Elisha Brooks of Brophy Prep AZ by one-hundredth of a second in the 300-meter hurdles.

One week after capturing his first CIF-State Championship in the 110-meter hurdles, the Stockton St. Mary’s CA junior continued his momentum by completing the impressive trifecta Saturday at the meet’s 60th edition at Oak Ridge High in El Dorado Hills, Calif.

Marshall, representing God Speed Track Club, won the 100-meter dash into a strong headwind in 11.06 seconds, prevailed in the 110 hurdles in 13.89 seconds and achieved the triple by edging freshman brother Jadyn Marshall in the 300 hurdles by a 37.86 to 37.90 margin.

Jamar Marshall, the all-conditions national leader in the 110 hurdles with his wind-aided 13.31-second effort to capture the state title May 25 at Buchanan High’s Veterans Memorial Stadium, is also scheduled to compete June 15 at the Brooks PR Invitational at University of Washington.

Joining Marshall in Seattle will be Calabasas CA sophomore Bella Witt, who returned to competition for the first time since April 26 to win the girls 100-meter dash in 12.22 seconds and the 100 hurdles in 14.23 seconds.

Witt, representing Codeblack Elite, was declared ineligible for Calabasas for the entire CIF postseason schedule after she and teammate Kyla Robinson-Hubbard were accidentally entered in five events at the Marmonte League championship meet.

As a result, both athletes were unable to participate for the Coyotes during the past month, with Calabasas only relying on seniors De’Anna Nowling and Tierra Crockrell, along with sophomore Jade McDonald, to tie for third place at the state meet with 25 points.

Vista del Lago junior Ceonna Pipion, who placed third in the 400 and ninth in the 200 at the state final, won the 200 in 24.63 seconds and placed second to Witt in the 100 in 12.24 seconds.

The Manson siblings, Max and Mia, traveled from Monarch CO and swept the pole vault competitions.

Max Manson, a Stanford signee representing Above the Bar, cleared 16 feet (4.87m) to remain unbeaten in 12 outdoor competitions this year and 23 overall, including the indoor season.

Mia Manson, a junior at Monarch representing Superior Track, cleared 12 feet (3.65m) to prevail in the girls event, along with placing second in the long jump with a leap of 17-5 (5.30m) and taking runner-up in the 200 in 25.07 seconds.

Centennial OR junior Angel Aluesi made the trip south and won the girls discus competition with a throw of 140-1 (42.69m) and placing second in the shot put at 42-7.75 (12.99m).

Eighth-grader Galadriel Mellion of Great Valley Middle School in Stockton won the shot put at 42-10.50 (13.06m).

Two additional eighth-grade talents were victorious on the track, with Samira Kennedy of Castilleja Middle School in Palo Alto winning the 800 meters in 2:17.83 and Daphne Witherell, representing Sacramento Elite, clocking 12:16.99 to capture the girls 3,200 meters.

Del Oro CA teammates Brayden McLaughlin and Riley Chamberlain both earned wins in distance events. McLaughlin, a Chico State signee, prevailed in the boys 3,200 in 9:35.54, with the freshman Chamberlain winning the girls 1,600 in 5:09.63.

Kimball CA junior Allan Hunter won the boys triple jump with an effort of 43-11 (13.38m) and placed second in the long jump with a leap of 20-3.25 (6.17m), being edged by Ponderosa CA junior Cameron Cole at 20-4.25 (6.20m).

Vanden CA junior Sameerah Evans regrouped following a 21st-place performance in the state triple jump prelims to win with a 38-foot effort (11.58m). It marked the eighth time this season Evans jumped at least 38 feet.

Piedmont Hills CA sophomore Jennifer Luong won the girls long jump with a mark of 17-6.75 (5.35m) and placed fourth in the triple jump at 34-2.50 (10.42m).
